100g Hirudo Medicinalis non-toxic water for leeches - reusable. This hydro-gel is specially formulated and designed for the transportation and storage of leeches. When you receive 100 grams of gel, it will turn into a couple of dry, gelatinous hydrogel crystals, after the dry gel crystals have been completely dissolved in regular tap water. Leech gel is mainly a transportation and storage material. A couple of tablespoons of hydrated gel are enough for every 3-4 medical leeches to be shipped long distances or on long journeys to their leech therapy destination. Why is water gel the perfect medium for transporting leeches? The main advantage of this gel over any other is that it is non-toxic to the delicate and sensitive nature of the medicinal leech. During the journey, the leech experiences a tremendous amount of stress due to shocks in its water-filled container. Being so stressed, the leech releases a toxic green substance as part of its excrement to protect its body, having been removed from its peaceful and restful natural habitat. When a large concentration of this green substance accumulates in its water, the leech begins to enter a toxic state and dies. When you start using leech water gel to store and transport leeches, it allows for the smooth travel of leeches within their transport container, without the tumultuous shaking of the water and the toxic release of excrement. Medical leeches arrive safely at their destination without "scratches". Although regular water is used for storing and preserving leeches, we find some customers who prefer to use this special water gel to preserve leeches, based on personal preference. The water gel can be washed periodically and reused practically forever. Leech water gel should be washed (along with the leeches in it) by placing it inside a large leech filter and using a heavy stream of cold tap water to allow dirt and old leech skins to filter out and wash off Street.
